Dr Suren BasovI graduated from the Moscow Institute for Engineering and Physics in 1992 with a diploma in Theoretical Physics and conducted postgraduate studies at the Russian Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute", during 1992-1995. I held a Soros Grant for Research in Critical Phenomena in Nuclear Spectra, 1994-1995 and Russian Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute" Fellowship, 1992-1995 and published two papers in refereed physics journals. I entered the New Economic School in 1994 and graduated with an MA in Economics in 1996. In 1996 I entered Boston University and earned my Ph.D in Economics in 2001. Employment History
PublicationsDuring my professional career, I have published two books, eight papers in refereed economics journals, including such high ranking journals as Economic Theory, Journal of Mathematical Economics, Contributions to Theoretical Economics and The Manchester School; two papers in top refereed physics journals and two chapters in edited volumes. I also presented my research in numerous domestic and international conferences. TeachingAt La Trobe I teach three third year undergraduate courses: Decision Analysis with Spreadsheets (ECO3DAS), Organisations, Economics and Incentives (EC03/4OEI) and Computational Finance (FIN3CLF). Research InterestsMy main research interests are in areas of bounded rationality and mechanism design and I am currently the Chief Investigator for ARC Discovery grant DP0881381 "Mechanism design under bounded rationality: The optimal contracts in the complex world", (with Ishaq Bhatti) 2008-2010.
