Transfer of courses

These guidelines seek to ensure that students are given as much flexibility in their study patterns as possible, within a quality framework and management system which enables the Faculty staff to meet all obligations as they pertain to University and external regulations and legislation.

When evaluating requests to transfer from one course to another, the following information will be taken into account:

  1. entrance requirements for the new course
  2. academic performance to date
  3. length of time in current course
  4. rationale for requesting transfer
  5. places available in the course into which you wish to transfer

Procedure

  1. Complete application form.
  2. Attach proof that you meet the requirements of the new course (VTAC Enter score, VCE study scores for English and maths if required)
  3. Attach all relevant documentation of prior studies
  4. Attach a brief statement of your reason for requesting the transfer.

All transfer applications MUST be received by the last Friday of June or November.

Applications will be reviewed immediately after the deadline and students will be notified of the outcome.

Criteria for consideration of requests to transfer course

How long have you been in your current course?

Students will generally be required to complete one year of study before transfer will be considered. In exceptional circumstances, students may apply after completing one semester of study.

  • Students admitted through VTAC will not be considered unless they have completed a minimum of one semester and in most cases will not be allowed to transfer before completion of one year.
  • International students will not be considered unless they have completed a minimum of one semester and in most cases will not be allowed to transfer before completion of one year.
  • Students applying to transfer from a Double Degree to a Single Degree, where the Single Degree is one of the component courses in the Double Degree, may be permitted to transfer after one semester.
Do you meet the academic requirements for the course that you wish to enter?

Each course has published requirements that are part of the selection process. You will need to provide proof that you meet the requirements of the new course (VTAC Enter score, VCE study scores for English and maths if required)

What has your academic performance been to date?

In most cases you will need to demonstrate a C+ average in your current course to be considered for transfer.

  • If you are requesting transfer from a Double Degree to a Single Degree where the Single Degree is one of the component courses in the Double Degree, you may be permitted to transfer with a lower grade average.
  • If you are requesting transfer from the same or a similar course at another campus, you may be permitted to transfer with a lower grade average if you meet the entry requirements for the new course and campus.
