Ms Tannya Devraj

Course of study:
Bachelor of Accounting/Bachelor of Finance

I started learning Accounting in Year 10 and it was something I understood and enjoyed from the very beginning.

I have always wanted to study an Accounting degree and enhance my personal and educational skills. I undertook a Bachelor of Accounting /Bachelor of Finance double degree as I believed it would give me a chance to explore the finance aspect and provide me with a variety of choices.

I am currently in my third year. La Trobe University has definitely brought me closer to my goal, through the Accounting Work Placement subject. This enabled me to gain practical experience in the area of accounting, whilst studying.

Joining La Trobe University for my undergraduate programme was one of the best decisions I have made. It has helped me grow as an individual and has helped me enhance my knowledge.

The double degree offered at La Trobe provided me with an excellent opportunity to broaden my horizons in two areas that interested me and did not force me to just study one area. The culture, staff and students at La Trobe are most welcoming and always eager to help.

There are a vast range of subjects offered at La Trobe to cater to a wide number of people. The work placement-based subjects provide a good indication of the work environment, post university.

There are a number of study and support resources offered on a regular basis. The library has a number of study areas, all equipped with technology and a number of books to help with a suitable study environment. Confidential counselling and academic services support students during difficult times and help them achieve the best they possibly can.

Studying an accounting and finance double degree at La Trobe gave me the opportunity to learn a wide variety of subjects, meet a number of students and influential staff and also provided me with one of the most fun and exciting university cultures.

As part of my Accounting Work Placement subject, I was offered a casual job as an Accounting Intern at the Regional Rail Link Authority (State Government of Victoria).

This course has definitely brought me closer to my goals and future career.
