Rotary award for women’s health study

Research into improving body satisfaction and eating behaviour among women in midlife – and to develop a group program to help women achieve these goals – has been supported by a $30,000 Australian Rotary Health Research Fund (ARHRF) grant for mental health.

The project is led by two La Trobe University psychologists and internationally recognised researchers in this field, Professors Susan Paxton, below right, and Eleanor Wertheim.

The two women – who also conduct Australian Research Council and Department of Health and Aging funded research into women’s health and body image and factors that predict alcohol consumption during and after pregnancy – say it is very important to receive additional funding from sources like Rotary to boost research into community problems.

They are shown with the ARHRF Director, Mr Des Jones receiving a plaque acknowledging the award.
