Issue: August 2004NewsGraduating in Islamic educationA group of 38 professional trainers and senior officials from the Indonesian Islamic secondary schools system recently graduated after completing a three-week intensive training program in the School of Educational Studies. La Trobe University is one of two Australian universities which won international tenders to conduct the course. Head of Educational Studies, Dr Lorraine Ling, said the course has been prepared with the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Its object is to strengthen secondary school education in public and private Islamic senior schools in Indonesia by developing resource training centres throughout Indonesia. Participants are the managers and trainers who will work in these centres. They came from 32 centres in several provinces.
