Top-level workshop on public accountability

La Trobe University’s Public Sector Governance and Accountability Research Centre (PSGARC), in partnership with the World Bank Institute and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, conducted a ten-day workshop in February on parliamentary financial scrutiny.

Top-level workshop on public accountabilityThe workshop was attended by 38 senior parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and Auditors-General from Bangladesh, Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Solomon Islands. The workshop started at the La Trobe Beechworth campus and concluded with visits to Australian Parliamentary Public Accounts Committees in Canberra and Sydney

PSGARC Director, La Trobe Professor of Accounting, Kerry Jacobs, said the workshop was an outstanding success and participants appreciated the combination of academic and practitioner perspectives.

He said the workshop established for La Trobe high-profile links with the World Bank Institute and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and boosted the University’s profile among the international participants.
