Recognition for teaching

La Trobe University has been recognised among Australia’s top achieving universities for excellence in teaching and learning in the latest Commonwealth Government Learning and Teaching Performance Fund Allocations.

The University received $2.4 million for the quality of its teaching and for additional performance in the category of Humanities, Arts and Education. Pro Vice- Chancellor (Academic), Professor Denise Kirkpatrick, said that while recognising particularly those teachers involved in the winning categories, the award highlights the contribution and dedication of staff across the whole university.

‘Their hard work has resulted in significant new funding that will be invested in learning and teaching development at La Trobe this year,’ she said.

‘Quality learning has been a tradition at La Trobe with graduates consistently rating highly the calibre of our teaching in annual surveys conducted by Graduate Careers Australia.’

The allocation follows La Trobe’s win of six Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in last year’s Carrick Institute teaching awards, and the University’s own ten teaching awards to staff who have made a significant contribution to student learning.
