Last Warhorse wins world tour
An animation produced by La Trobe University, Bendigo, visual arts PhD student, Susan McMinn, has been selected to tour Europe as part of the ‘Australian Panorama’ that featured in the Melbourne International Animation Festival.
Ms McMinn’s work, The Last Warhorse, was judged Best Australian Student Film at a presentation of the festival at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne. It was one of twelve animations chosen from 60 schools from around Australia.
A fusion of myth, legend and history, the film highlights the vital role played by Australian Waler horses in the First World War during the Palestine Campaigns.
The Last Warhorse was also the only Australian animation selected for the Women in Film and Television screening during the festival.
Australian Panorama will feature at more than a dozen festivals around the globe including London, Ottawa, the USA, and Estonia. The tour began in London at the end of August 2009.
