Distributed Real-Time Multi-Agent Alarm Processing System (MAPS): 1992-96

MAPS was developed for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) to assist a power system control centre operator for processing alarms and diagnosing faults related to Thomastown Terminal Power Station (TTS) and 16 substations associated with it. The project primarily involved myself and a Senior Engineer from the SECV.. The project among other things involved agent-oriented analysis and design of the TTS and its 16 substations, and use of intelligent methodologies like neural networks for pattern recognition, fuzzy logic and rule based expert systems along with relational databases.

Practical Outcome: MAPS has been designed, implemented and tested. It complies with the performance requirements laid down by SECV. The installation of the system has been deferred because of restructuring of Electrical Power Industry in Victoria.
