Acacia williamsonii is commonly known
as Whirakee Wattle. This wattle is virtually endemic to the Bendigo region and grows in very few locations within and outside the district. Its largest population occurs north of Bendigo in the Whipstick and Kamarooka Forests (now part of the Greater Bendigo National Park). It is classified as rare in Victoria. Whirrakee Wattle produces spectacular. But brief displays of flowering at the end of August/start of September. The pollen unit is similar to other local wattles, consisting of 16 fused grains.
