Pollen of the Box-Ironbark Forests.
Pollen is produced by all plants that bear seeds.
In flowering plants (Angiosperms) pollen is produced in pollen sacs within the flower. When mature, it may travel on the wind or be carried by other agents (insects, birds, mammals) to the central part of another flower where it will fertilise the ovules resulting in the formation of seeds.

Pollen grains are microscopic, highly complex structures whose shape, size and external sculpturing are characteristic of the particular taxon to which they belong.
The pollen images of the flowering plants of the Box-Ironbark forest are arranged on this site under Family name and Species and also under Common name.
To identify a pollen from its morphology, we have provided a table of Thumbnail images
