What is the TTC?

The Temper Tamers Club of Australia (TTC) supports kids interested in Temper and related feelings. As a member you can get lots of ideas about temper and how to manage it, and can help other kids facing problems with temper by sharing what youíve learnt about temper. The club also has an art gallery of drawings and stories about Temper, where you can share your artwork, and surveys for you to complete so we can get to know more about temper. The TTC aims to make good ideas from kids and their supporters available to others by putting them onto the web and into newsletters and tip sheets.

TTC has a Surveys that acts like a private detective in finding out about Temper Tantrum's tricky and sneaky ways. Maybe you could fill out one of the surveys now? Click the Research Department icon.

The TTC also likes to celebrate and acknowledge successes kids have in overcoming problems with Temper. Anyone who finds a way to Tame a Temper can be nominated to become one of our Hall of Fame STARS. These are kids who are now like the Cool Dude, and cope in a positive way with temper. They get a special place on our website, a certificate, and a graduation ceremony. Click the Hall of Fame icon to find out more.

Does the TTC sound like something you could use? Maybe you have some ideas of your own that you want to share? How about contributing a story, piece of art, or filling out one of the Temper Tantrum surveys.

Ackowledgements
In setting up the TTC we have been inspired by the many families dealing with Temper. We have drawn on the concept of externalising people's problems, first proposed by Michael White, employed the terminology of "temper taming" introduced by Michael Durant (1989) and were motivated to use the medium of the web by David Epston who established the internet based Anti-Anorexia League. The idea of a temper tamers club has been used by others before us, in particular we would like to acknowledge the work of Jennifer Freeman, David Epston and Dean Lobovits (1997) who make reference to the "Temper Tamers Club of America" in their book " Playful Approaches to Serious Problems: Narrative Therapy with Children & their Families". The TTC was established in 2000 by Jeff Young and Raelene de Ross. Since that time, it has drawn together ideas from staff, colleagues and families associated with The Bouverie Centre and beyond.
