The Department of Botany offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate training and experience in areas such as plant ecology, pathology, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as the genetic engineering of plants and the taxonomy, evolution and biogeography of flowering plants.

Tailor your studies

A botany major is structured to facilitate many combinations of subjects from other disciplines, thereby broadening your career opportunities. Students can choose subjects from other biological sciences (biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and zoology) to gain a firm foundation in the discipline that is also tailored to their interests.
