Research
Research in the Department of Botany is conducted in two main areas:
- environmental science and management
- molecular and physiological cell biology.
The Department’s well equipped laboratories, glasshouses and growth facilities provide a comprehensive environment for our research groups, comprised of postdoctorates and postgraduate students led by academic staff who are internationally recognised in their fields. La Trobe's plant biology research was rated above world standard in the 2012 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) report.
