Student placements for community health services

The Upper Hume Community Health Service has been successful in gaining a grant in a joint initiative with the Faculty of Health at the Albury-Wodonga campus of La Trobe University, Wodonga TAFE and local community health funded agencies in the area.

The Department of Human Services (Victoria) awarded $80,000 to the project which will develop a model able to deliver co-ordinated student clinical placements between the community health sector and educational facilities.
The model's objectives aim to increase the numbers of high quality interdisciplinary student placements with an enhanced awareness of community health care roles.  It will also promote collaborative educational and research opportunities for the partnership, with an anticipated outcome of improved recruitment and retention into this area of health care delivery.

The project steering committee will be established shortly to commence streamlining the co-ordination and communication processes of the model.  It is anticipated it will take twelve months to complete the project.
