Irene Sephton BSW Hons. - Irene Stephton’s recently completed thesis earned her a First Class pass for her innovative research into exploring an Aboriginal perspective of the ‘Best Interest Principles’.
Seher Ozonal who graduated at the Mildura Campus in February 2009 with an Honours in Social Work has now been awarded the Pauline Toner award . The Pauline Toner Award is awarded to a student who has completed at least two years of a course, to recognise contributions to La Trobe University and the wider community in the fields of social issues, education or the environment.
Grant Doxey (BSW-Hons Mildura campus), supervised by Dr Patricia McNamara is the first Mildura BSW student to receive a first class honours. Grant lives 100Ks from Mildura in Ouyen and travelled down for 2 years to attend the course (over 3,00ks in all). He presented a paper 'More than a dollar; responding to psychosocial needs identified by rural financial counsellors in rural and remote areas" at the 9th Biennial Rural Remote Social Work Conference in Geelong in July 2009.
