Bachelor of Bioinformatics/Bachelor of ScienceDepartment of BiochemistryAbout the CourseThe entry requirements for the Bioinformatics program are shown below: Prerequisite Units 3 and 4: A study score of at least 25 in English, and Mathematical Methods. Selection mode: ENTER and two-stage process with a middle band of approximately 20%. Middle band selection: Applicants who have successfully completed 3 of the following studies will be deemed to have an ENTER up to 1.5 percentage points higher for each study up to a maximum of 2 studies: Chemistry, Information Technology & Specialist Mathematics. The course is designed to provide training in Information Technology and in the application of computers in current biological initiatives such as the human genome project. Major subjects: Biochemistry, Computer Science, Genetics Minor subjects: Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics Course structure: The first year provides a foundation in computer science, mathematics, chemistry and biology, after which students follow a chosen combination of subjects in molecular biology and information technology.
