Biosketch - Dr Jacqueline Orian

Jacqueline Orian completed a B.Sc (Hons.) and Ph.D. in the Department of Biochemistry at Monash University, graduating in 1988. Her area of research was oxidative phosphorylation. She then moved to The University of Melbourne to the Departments of Neurosurgery (Royal Melbourne Hospital) and subsequently, Pathology, investigating myelin assembly using transgenic models of disturbed myelination. She pursued this line of research in the Department of Neurodegenerative Diseases, Imperial College (London).

Jacqueline joined the Department of Biochemistry at La Trobe University in 1999. She is working on investigating the relationship between axonal injury and glial responses in multiple sclerosis, with a view of defining more accurate therapeutic targets. She is also continuing her studies in myelination with Melbourne University colleagues. She is currently funded by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of New York.
