Geo-engineering is the deliberate and engineered manipulation of the earth’s systems to counterbalance the warming effect of rising greenhouse gas concentrations. It is emerging as a third leg of climate change policy, or even as an alternative to mitigation and adaptation, despite substantial ethical and other concerns.
