Bookshop / Cafe Albury-Wodonga Campus

A new Bookshop/Café facility has recently opened on the Albury-Wodonga Campus. It is centrally located opposite the main lecture theatre, and with access directly from the pedestrian thoroughfare which links all the main campus buildings.

Purpose

To provide new co-located retail facilities. The new building will become a focus for social interaction on the campus. The Bookshop will include print facilities for students and the Café will be a welcome “coffee spot” and will serve light meals and refreshments to staff and students.

Reason for the project

The Campus has been without an all-weather meeting place. The old University Bookshop was located away from the University population in an ageing building on the Wodonga TAFE site. The Café/Kiosk was housed in an outdoor tent on the University grounds and had to be assembled each morning. The new Café will provide an indoor/outdoor environment for dining and other functions.

Work Details

The project involved the construction of a pavilion style structure and landscaped outdoor dining areas. The Bookshop and the Café each have lettable floor area of approximately 80 square metres.
