Medical Clinic
Dr Chan (located in the Student Services Centre) has run his private Medical Practice on the grounds of the University for several years now. The practice offers a full range of general practice services. A campus nurse who provides nursing services including health education and promotion, pathology testing, wound dressings and reviews and more, supports the practice.
Clinic Hours Of Operation
The medical clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, but is closed most Public Holidays and over the Christmas - New Year Period. For confirmation of this, please contact the Campus Health Services Reception on (03) 5444 7770.
Appointments
The medical practice operates by appointment only. People needing an appointment can contact the Campus Health Services Reception on (03) 5444 7770. Urgent appointments are available for same day consultations.
Pathology Results
Most pathology results may be obtained over the phone by contacting the medical service on (03) 5444 7770 and speaking with the nurse. It may be required in some cases, that patients come into the clinic to receive their results in person.
Referrals
It is necessary to see a Doctor to obtain a referral as we need to assess your medical condition to provide the specialist with information
Medical Certificates
These are a legal document, and as such we are required by law to ensure that information contained in them is accurate - thus clients are required to see the Doctor in person. We are not permitted under any circumstances to backdate certificates.
Special Consideration
These are legal documents and we are required by LTU to ensure that information contained in them is accurate. When you request these certificates, a careful assessment is made by the Doctor who is required to fill in the specific forms.
Reserved Car Parking
The medical clinic has reserved car parking available for medical service patients only. This car park can be accessed via entry through gate 4, Edward's Rd, Flora Hill. Please follow the signs to the medical Clinic. Parking fines may be incurred by persons parking in other areas of the University where a University parking permit is required.
After Hours Service
The medical practice does not offer after hours medical care at this time. For urgent after hours medical care please contact or attend your nearest Emergency Department. The Bendigo Health Care Group - Emergency Department can be contacted by phone on (03) 5454 8100. Alternatively, the Bendigo Primary Care Clinic can be contacted on (03) 5441 8622 for non-emergency needs.
Fees for Consultations
Australian Students - Students who are currently enrolled at La Trobe University, Bendigo and who have a current Medicare Card, are able to see Dr Chan and be "Bulkbilled" through Medicare.
International Students - International students who are currently enrolled at La Trobe University, Bendigo are expected to pay for their consultation on the same day. This will be AU$29.45. International students are then able to seek reimbursement from their Private Health Insurer (WorldCare, Medibank or Government) at their convenience.
University Staff - Staff at the University will be required to pay the scheduled fee of AU$30.00 on the day of consultation, unless there is a prior arrangement with Dr Chan for Bulk Billing services.
