So you want to travel around the world? Are you still thinking about it, or have you booked your tickets? There's a lot to think about when you decide to travel, and hopefully this will be a good guide to start you off!

Travel Vaccines
Travel Vaccines need to be considered no less than 6 weeks prior to travel to ensure that adequate immunity against disease is provided. For further information about travel vaccinations provided at the Medical Clinic (in the Student Services Centre, Bendigo), please visit here. First Aid & Medical Items
When planning a trip overseas, no one wants to think about the worst that could happen, but being prepared and taking a few simple items could mean the difference between a good trip and a terrible one. Most items mentioned below are available from your local chemist (some medications may require a prescription).

The following information is provided by the WHO, International Travel and Health, 2002
sterile dressing pack any medication prescribed by your regular GP
antiseptic wound cleanser simple analgesic (paracetamol)
bandages & sterile dressings oral rehydration salts / gastrolyte
adhesive tape antihistamine
salt water eye drops insect bite treatment
scissors and safety pins antidiarrhoeal medication
insect repellent antimalerial medication (depending on destination)
thermometer water disinfectant (depending on destination)
condoms sterile syringes and needles (depending on destination)
