This is designed to provide participants with necessary skills and knowledge to carry out emergency life savings procedures in the first few minutes following a life threatening incident. The first aid practises taught in these courses and detailed texts are based on current policy statements from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). |

This unit deals with the provision of emergency life support in recognising and responding to an emergency using basic life support measures. The first aider provides an initial response to a situation where first aid may be required but is not expected to deal with complex casualties or incidents.

This is a short course designed to develop the knowledge and skills to provide basic first aid, manage the casualty(s) and the incident. This unit specifies the outcomes required to provide first aid in a range of settings to manage the incident and response, and communicate with others involved in the treatment or response. This unit covers the application of skills and knowledge in an emergency in the workplace or home where first aid treatment options are applied. It is about assessing the situation, providing first aid to the casualty, coordinating first aid until arrival of medical assistance, communicating details of the incident to others involved in the treatment, and evaluating the incident after the event to learn from the situation activities. * Student discounts are available for First Aid Courses; Student ID is required upon booking for discount. |

| Anaphylaxis First Aid Training - Code 21659VIC |

This will provide training in the recognition and emergency management of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. This training includes risk minimisation and the use and administration of Epi Pen® . Although not a compulsory requirement a current CPR Certificate has been recommended by Stiches First Aid Education. CPR can be completed on the same day prior to Anaphylaxis Training. CPR Cost:- Public $60, La Trobe Staff & Students $55. * Student discounts are available for First Aid Courses; Student ID is required upon booking for discount.

Stitches First Aid Education is a Registered Training Organisation which provides first aid training in a relaxed and informal setting. Their courses are certificated through the Victorian Qualifications Authority and are nationally recognised.
