Chaplains
The Chaplaincy team at Bendigo is a unique multifaith group of people who come together to offer a welcoming drop in centre for students and staff on campus regardless of age, culture or religious background.
The Chaplaincy team is run by a group of volunteers who offer pastoral and spirtual care, friendship, encouragement and practical assistance wherever possible.
Chaplain's Role
The chaplaincy team, working in collaboration with the Student Support Services staff, endeavour to provide:
- Support to students and staff in times of grief or personal crisis
- Welcome and support for both international students and those from beyond Bendigo
- Opportunities to explore religious, spiritual and personal issues, either individually or in groups
- Leadership of study/seminar groups on faith, reflection and personal development
- Religious resources for student and staff groups (e.g. music and books)
- An inter-faith focus for spiritual life on campus
The Chaplains Centre also offers hospitality with an urn that's aways boiling, a supply of beverages and biscuits, a microwave, fridge and freezer. Student poverty is a recognised problem. Members of our wider Bendigo community donate items of food for needy students.
Contact Information
The Chaplains' Centre is located across the corridor from Residential Services in the Student Services Centre. The centre is open Mondays to Wednesdays from 9.30am to 5.00pm, Thursday 1.00pm to 5.00pm and Friday 9.30am to 5.00 pm or by appointment.
To contact one of the chaplains on campus during any of these times, either phone them on 5444 7939, call in at the Chaplaincy Centre or book a time slot through Student Support Services reception (phone 5444 7223). A warm welcome is assured and the kettle is always on the boil!
