Community engagement

The Bendigo campus is engaged in many community initiatives. These include programs and projects that contribute University scholarship and infrastructure to community sustainability such as:

The general public are welcome to attend the many public lectures and seminars held on campus including the distinguished annual Sir John Quick Bendigo Lecture and the Worner Research Lecture.

News and Events

The campus provides regular updates of its news and events to the community through the publication of media releases. Seminars, lectures and conferences open to the public can be found on the searchable University events database.

Visual Arts Centre

The La Trobe University 121 View Street Visual Arts Centre, is open to both students and the general public. Regular exhibitions of contemporary art are displayed by Visual Arts staff, artists-in-residence and other practising artists.

Phyllis Palmer Gallery

The Phyllis Palmer Gallery is a space dedicated to showing new work by graduates, current students and associates of La Trobe University Visual Arts as well as those that have had connections with La Trobe University and is open to the general public.

Bendigo Chapter Alumni

The Bendigo Chapter of La Trobe University Alumni provides an ongoing link between the University and our communities, maintaining contact and fostering relationships with graduates and community stakeholders. With over 112,000 graduates worldwide the Alumni plays a very important role. It ensures that former students are kept up-to-date with developments at La Trobe. The public Downtown Lecture series profiles our local community.

Conferences and Public Events

The Brockley auditorium at 121 View Street Visual Arts Centre seats 80, includes audio-visual facilities and is available for public use for seminars and conferences. Catering can be provided.

Residential Services provides high quality residences for accommodating nearly 600 students and visiting scholars and conference facilities. The residences are ideal for group bookings and conferences over the summer break with quality catering available through Food for Thought .
