Medical clinic

Dr Albert Chan (M.B.B.S MONASH) is located in the Student Services Centre and offers a full range of general practitioner services to La Trobe University students and staff.

The medical clinic operates by appointment only. Consultations are available 9am-5pm, Tuesday to Friday.

Limited urgent appointments are available for same day consultations. The medical clinic is closed most public holidays and over the Christmas/New Year period. For confirmation, contact the Campus Health Services reception on (03) 5444 7770.

After hours service

The medical clinic does not offer after hours medical care. For urgent after hours medical care please contact or attend your nearest emergency department.

Bendigo Primary Care Clinic: (03) 5441 8622 (for non-emergency needs).

Fees for consultations

Australian students

Students who are currently enrolled at La Trobe University, Bendigo and who have a current Medicare card are able to see Dr Chan and be bulk billed through Medicare.

International students

International students who are currently enrolled at La Trobe University are able to attend the clinic. A current OSHC card must be presented.

University staff

Staff at the University are able to attend the clinic and will be bulk billed. A current Medicare card must be presented along with any concession cards.

Pathology results

Pathology results may be obtained over the phone by contacting the medical clinic on (03) 5444 7770. In some cases, patients may be required to come into the clinic to receive their results in person.

Referrals

It is necessary to make an appointment to obtain a referral as Dr Chan will need to assess your medical condition to provide the specialist with information.

Medical certificates

Medical certificates are legal documents and patients are required to book an appointment. The medical clinic is not permitted under any circumstances to backdate certificates.

Special consideration

These are legal documents and the medical clinic is required by La Trobe University to ensure that information contained in them is accurate. When you request these certificates, a careful assessment is made to ensure compliance requirements are met.

Immunisation clinics

Immunisation clinics will be run throughout the year. Appointments for these clinics are essential and can be made by contacting (03) 5444 7770. You will need to bring your current Medicare card to your appointment. Students will need to bring their current University student ID card in order to receive any available discount.

* Flu immunisation clinic dates require confirmation closer to delivery date of vaccines. Please check with the clinic seven days prior to your vaccination to ensure adequate stock.

Travel health

First aid training is offered throughout the year and most courses are open to staff and students of the University and the general public.

Reserved car parking

The Medical clinic has reserved car parking available for medical service patients only. The car park can be accessed via entry through gate 4, Edwards Rd, Flora Hill. Please follow the signs to the Medical Clinic. Parking fines may be incurred by persons parking in other areas of the University where a University parking permit is required.

On-campus emergencies

In an on-campus medical emergency, the Campus Emergency Procedures should be put into effect. Contact the Campus Emergency Response team on 7999 (or 5444 7999 from your mobile). This is a 24 hour service. If there is no answer dial 0 000 and ask for the emergency service required.

  • the nature of the emergency
  • the location of the emergency
  • your name and telephone extension or number.
