University Bridging program (UBP)
The University Bridging Program (UBP) offered by La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga Campus is a generalist preparatory program. The program is co-ordinated through the Language and Academic Skills Unit (LASU). It is designed for mature age students, that is, students who are at least twenty-one years of age (or will turn 21 prior to the commencement of this program) and who may not have completed a Year 12. The program runs during Second Semester, commencing mid-July and finishing in early December. It is conducted two days a week from 10.00am – 3.00pm. All classes are held at the Albury-Wodonga Campus.
The UBP provides students with skills and increased confidence to assist them to successfully complete their proposed tertiary course requirements, and, as such, the content of the program goes well beyond basic literacy courses.
The program consists of four subjects and each runs for eighteen weeks. The subjects have been developed so that they interrelate with each other, therefore, students are strongly urged to enrol in all four subjects. It may be possible to gain an exemption from some of the work requirements dependant upon prior education and/or life experience.
Dates
The 2008 UBP will commence on Tuesday 22 July and conclude on Friday 5 December. Initial applications close on Friday June 27.
Costs
There are no enrolment fees for this program.
Subjects
There is a two hour lecture per week for each of the following subjects:

- Introduction to Science
Workload
Every attempt is made to provide students with adequate preparation for the years of study ahead of them. Therefore, assignments will be set regularly throughout the program and students should be prepared to spend up to sixteen hours per week on homework. However, this time may vary according to the nature and due dates of assessment tasks.
Child care
There is a Child Care Centre on campus, although places may be limited. Please contact the centre if you would like more information about their services. Their phone number is (02) 6055 6653.
Language and Academic Skills Unit
