Asian Studies Program
Honours Program
An Honours or fourth year is available to students in the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Asian Studies. It is designed to enable high-achieving students to further develop research skills and expertise in languages and related disciplines.
Honours may be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years. In some cases it may be possible to commence an Honours course mid year. Successful completion of the Honours year is a prerequisite for entry into postgraduate research degrees. Alternatively, for students who have already taken out a 3 year undergraduate degree and now wish to proceed to postgraduate study, a Master of Arts Preliminary is available, which is identical to the Honours program.
The Honours year in Asian Studies combines coursework and a research essay or thesis of 10,000 to 15,000 words.
Students interested in applying for Honours should consult the Asian Studies Honours Co-ordinator before the end of their third year of study. More information on the Honours year is available in the Honours Guide (Word - 306 KB, pdf - 243 KB).
