Mission Statement

The Mission Statement for the Art Collection is to acquire, conserve and exhibit a major public art collection of demonstrable excellence and significance that reflects the diversity of art produced, especially since the establishment of La Trobe University, for the cultural enrichment, education and research enterprise of the University's student body, staff and the wider community.

The aim is to acquire works by living Australian artists, however works of art by living and deceased Australian artists and International artists may be accepted as gifts under the Federal Government's Cultural Gifts Program. The University also acquires works of art through the sponsorship of several art awards.
