Articulation Agreements
La Trobe University now has a University model for TAFE articulation agreements.
There will be one umbrella ‘Articulation Agreement’ between the University and any TAFE institution (driven by either a Faculty or a Campus). A PDF format precedent Articulation Agreement, containing the contract and an appended Schedule, is available on the Legal Services website in the ‘Standard Contracts’ section.
To complete an agreement, annotate the PDF document as required and forward it to Legal Services for the drawing up of a standard contract for signature by the Vice-Chancellor and the CEO of the relevant TAFE. It will first need to be endorsed by Academic Committee.
All necessary steps in the process are outlined in the ‘Guidelines’ document.
Tables (available at right in MSWord format) for different programs will contain the detail of articulation arrangements for TAFE programs and La Trobe courses and any conditions imposed by either party. Tables will form attachments to the umbrella Articulation Agreement and will need to go through Faculty and University approval processes as detailed in the attached ‘Guidelines’ and flowchart. They may be approved by Academic Committee at the same time as the initial Articulation Agreement, or may be added later as opportunities for articulation arrangements are identified.
Where possible, the Tables will specify unit credits by name, rather than generic statements based on the ANTA/AVCC guidelines. For programs with multiple electives (like the Bachelor of Arts), the number of credit points or units for which credits will be granted should be specified.
This model should now be used for any new articulation agreements, whether onshore or offshore. Existing agreements should be moved to the new format after the existing arrangements expire, if there is a desire to continue the association.
