Makers of meaning: Consumer participation in breast health and the role of women’s contribution in breast health knowledge |
|
No sooner the one big project that was the ‘thesis’ is finished, then almost immediately my attentions are taken up with a new one. Although this is no where near such a long project it is in a way an extension to the former and perhaps signals my future pathway. I am working with a Health Issues Centre project team on an investigation about cancer patients’ experiences as they cross over between public and private care and vice versa. It is an exciting and novel project which concentrates solely on patients’ perspectives and only briefly considers what clinicians think of their experiences. For me it seems a natural extension of looking at breast health consumer experiences and knowledge development to that of consumer experiences of cancer care in general. My intention in the near future is to combine this sort of project work with that of writing papers from my thesis. I have already submitted one with another not far behind.
Returning to ARSCHS to clear my desk the other week, I was struck with what I will miss. I will miss that collegiality which was so important in the thesis project development. I will miss the laughter and the fun factor. Good luck to all the other PhD projects at ARSCHS. I wish you all the very best and every success in the future. I’m sure our paths will cross. |
