Broad approach Theories of critical anthropology, Qur’anic studies and health, the nexus between identity and health, health sector reform at both macro and micro levels, the exploration of reproductive and sexual rights from Islamic perspectives.
Current projects
 

Ambivalent Adolescence in Indonesia
A collaborative 5 year project between researchers from 4 Australian Universities commencing in 2006. This project will explore adolescent experiences of education; religious, cultural and national identity; the body and sexuality; parents and family; social life; popular culture; and work. Dr Bennett’s contribution will focus on research on the Eastern Indonesian Islands of Lombok and Flores.

Director of Muslim Youth (MY) Australia project exploring health, education and social connectedness from young Muslims living in Victoria.


Political economy and female sexuality in Eastern Indonesia, (CI) investigating the impact of the continuing economic and political crises on young women living in regional cities.


Survey of Islamic and Muslim Majority Schools in Victoria, (CI) a project conducted in collaboration with the Islamic Council of Victoria aimed at mapping the size, services, resources, facilities, contributions and particular values of this sector if independent schools.
