Practicing Sexual Ethics: New Media Environments and the Sexual Subjectivities of Young People |
| Thesis description |
I am interested in examining how young people (aged 18-25) enact ‘sexual ethics’ in the context of new media environments. I am exploring how young people use the internet and mobile phones to negotiate their sexual practices and relationships, in ways that are respectful to themselves and others.
My research will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be an online discussion board where a group of young people will come together to discuss issues of technology use in sexual relationships. The second phase will consist of individual face-to-face interviews which will explore in greater depth young people’s experiences of sexual negotiation and the use of new media technologies. |
