| Thesis title |
The missing men in Bangladesh: MSM as the bridging population in the coming HIV epidemic |
| Thesis description |
All indicators suggest a pending HIV epidemic in Bangladesh, and there is an urgent need for a greater understanding of at-risk populations. Male-male sexual activity is very much an invisible behaviour, expressed in a number of different cultural forms and within different frameworks. This thesis will explore the role of social and environmental factors such as poverty, migration, delayed marriage, and globalisation in determining same-sex behaviours within a heteronormative society. It will also address the gap in knowledge about the networks of men having sex with men in Bangladesh. |
