My expertise is in the theory and practice of teaching and learning, community development, and health promotion. I have a special interest in writing and designing different media to communicate research findings. |

Finding ways to link the academy with the community to help translate research outcomes into action, espeically in the anti-discrimination, sex education and the public health arenas. |

2008 Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Victoria, Catching On Early - sex and relationships curriculum resource for primary schools. Based on consultations with education providers, a review of research and existing resources (in development).
2008 Department of Health, Western Australia, Talking to your kids about sex – Parents’ Guide. Consultation and resource development (in development).
2007 Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing,Chlamydia - the secret is out, an educational DVD and workbook for distribution to Australian secondary schools.

2008 Finalist Certificate (Film/Video) - Global Awards for World’s Best Work in Healthcare Communications, for DVD and workbook Chlamydia – The Secret is Out, commissioned by Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
2003 Australian Teachers of Multimedia Award for the Best Primary Education Resource in Australia. I developed and wrote a website, www.thehormonefactory.com.au for 10-12 year olds about sex and reproduction, and to support parents and teachers in talking to children about sexual and reproductive development. This site has been in operation since 2002, was funded by The Bertarelli Foundation, and has been translated into French and is currently being translated into Swedish.
1997 Inaugural Public Health Award for the National Centre in HIV Social Research: Homeless Youth Project for its community liaison and dissemination work. The team also invited to present this work at the San Diego International Adolescent Health Conference in 1998. |

2006 Spensley St Primary School, Whole School Sexuality Education Program. Commission to develop and implement a sexuality education program for a primary school with a relatively high number of families with lesbian and gay parents. It was developed in consultation with parents, children and staff, and then thoroughly evaluated (continuing).
2006 Islamic Council of Victoria, Professional development - Skilling Muslim teachers to respond to discrimination and violence against Muslim students.
2003 Bertarelli Philanthropic Foundation, www.thehormonefactory.com, research and development of an education website for primary-school children.
2003 Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Revision of Victorian Sexual Health Education curriculum resource. Catching On - a teaching and learning resource for years 9 and 10 students, and provider of professional development for secondary schools.
