Brief Profile
Dr Jeffrey Grierson, a senior research fellow at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, is a social psychologist with a long-standing interest in sexuality and HIV/AIDS. He has worked in the HIV/AIDS field within community organisations, government and academia for the past 20 years. His particular interest is in the intersection of personal experience and social structures, specifically under the rubric of ‘community’. Dr Grierson is responsible for a suite of social research projects addressing experiences and meanings of HIV positivity, including the Australian HIV Futures Studies. He is also involved in a number of research projects investigating structures, processes and meanings of sexuality, including social network studies with Dr Anthony Smith, and projects exploring men’s same sex practice and identity in South East Asia. With Dr McNally from ARCSHS and Dr Hidayana from The University of Indonesia, he is currently working on the largest suite of social research ever conducted with gay men and MSM in Indonesia.
