La Trobe University has established a new scholarship in the name of our former Chancellor, Sylvia Walton AO (2006 – 2010) and her significant contribution to education in Australia.

Today she remains deeply dedicated to education and is passionate about addressing issues of access to, and participation in higher education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The aim of the Sylvia Walton Scholarship is to support a commencing student at La Trobe University who would otherwise not have the opportunity to undertake tertiary studies, due to financial hardship and/or educational disadvantage. The University is currently seeking donations to grow the scholarship fund.
