Odyssey Travel

Odyssey Travel's suite of educational programs is created for mature-aged travellers with a keen mind and curiosity about the world. Odyssey recognises and seeks to cater for this socially-aware group of travellers through a diverse range of cultural, heritage and scientific programs to historical, exotic and remote destinations throughout the world.

To make sure participants make the right decision about which program to join, Odyssey educational programs are divided into three categories: discovery, active and specialised tours. Each has a particular focus and a limit on the number of participants.

Odyssey Discovery Tours

Odyssey Discovery Tours are educational programs to all regions of the world. These tours are led by a Program Leader who brings a unique insight into each facet of the destination, to broaden both the horizon and the mind.  Programs average 21 nights and cater for a maximum group of 25.

Odyssey Active Tours

Odyssey Active Tours are designed for the active traveller who enjoys learning on the move. Diverse environments and locations are chosen to challenge participants. Typically a moderate to extreme level of fitness is required, depending on the program selected. For some programs, Odyssey requires a fitness assessment program to be completed to confirm your attendance.

Active educational tours are diverse; you might experience sections of the Tour de France or kayak Bass Strait. You will be accompanied by a professional for the region. Group size is restricted to a maximum of 15 participants. These programs typically offer clients an unrestricted travel program, with a good balance of activities and free time which may last from an afternoon to a few days.

Odyssey Specialised Tours

Odyssey Specialised Tours are for those people who have more time. They provide the traveller with opportunities to study, conduct research, sketch or just consider the environment. Odyssey’s guides for specialised tours are more than just knowledgeable about the subject being studied.  Often they are university qualified lecturers.  All are keen to share their passion and knowledge.  Odyssey takes care to source such leaders because the contribution of their knowledge to an Odyssey specialised tour group provides the platform for great discussion and debate.

Specialised tours typically consist of lectures, information sharing, group discussion on analysis of findings as well as a balance of free time.  Odyssey specialist tour programs are restricted to a maximum of 10-12 participants.

Seeking Program Leaders

Odyssey is calling for expressions of interest from candidates to be trained as tour leaders for our Specialist, Active and Discovery tours. Please visit our website to view our range of new programs.  Information on our criteria for Program Leaders is available under “Recruitment”.  For additional information, please email ceo@odysseytravel.com.au.
