Dr Tony Radford has built an impressive career in biotechnology, holding executive roles in the management of commercial research and development in the medical field, and today is a founding director of ASX-listed Cellestis

He has been a passionate advocate for improved public health through detection and prevention of tuberculosis. He completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) at La Trobe University in 1980 and graduated with a PhD in microbiology from La Trobe University in 1984.

Dr Radford participated in the invention and development of QuantiFERON®, a highly specific and highly sensitive blood test for tuberculosis, which was recognised with a CSIRO medal. After seven years at CSIRO, Dr Radford joined AMRAD Limited , where he identified and managed several projects. In 2000 he left AMRAD to establish Cellestis, a company formed to develop the QuantiFERON®, technology.

Cellestis has since listed in the ASX and developed new tuberculosis and other diagnostic products which are sold in all major global markets. Today the Melbourne-based Cellestis employs one hundred staff, with offices and operations in the USA, Europe, Japan and Singapore.
