Bio Science Reunion
The La Trobe University Biological Science 1993-96 Reunion was held at the Eagle Bar on February 21st 2009. Over sixty people attended the night and monies were raised for Brain Cancer Research.
The Bio Sciencers 1993-96 group was started in late 2008 with an aim of reacquainting students from this era, planning some fun events and raising some money for worthwhile causes.
Old and sometimes embarrassing stories were told, laughs exchanged, friendships reunited, and most importantly fun was had. The most frequently asked question on the night was: 'so what are you doing with yourself now?' leading to a wide range of interesting answers. Among our number on the night were Doctors, Vets, Teachers, Accountants, Sales Reps, Occupational Therapists and of course the ever popular Friendly Neighbourhood Research Scientist.
Many of our group travelled long distances to arrive at the Eagle Bar and in particular we would like to thank Sally Rice, who made the trip down from Bundalong, and Megan Scott who came from Wonthaggi. Special mention should also go to the Lay Brothers who managed to trek across the campus from their respective offices all the way to the Eagle Bar. Thanks guys!!
Congratulations should go to our door prize winners Jane Elkington and Anna Pickburn. The highlight of the door prize segment being the brilliant display of name drawing by Karen Mulder - a truly inspirational performance.
Thanks must go to Jo Ciantar who was truly the driving force behind the whole evening, to Rehana Seneviratne for her work on the night, to the La Trobe University Alumni and to the Eagle Bar Staff. Thanks also to Rob Dabal, Nancy Gammaldi and Rachel Gardiner for their recruitment skills.
