All visitors travelling to Australia must have a valid visa to enter the country. You will be issued with a registration summary and tax invoice to include with your visa application once you have paid your registration.
The type of passport that you hold will determine if you are eligible to apply for a visa online, or whether you need to lodge a hard-copy application. It is suggested that you allow up to two months for a visa application to be processed.
If you are planning to visit Australia to participate in a conference, and are not being paid to do so, you can apply for:
- ETA (subclass 601),
- eVisitor visa (subclass 651), or
- Visitor (Business Stream) visa (subclass 600)
Please note that this information is a guide only, and it is the responsibility of the traveler to ensure they are applying for the correct visa. For full details on Australia's visa requirements, please visit www.border.gov.au.
