Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care - ACEBAC
ACEBAC, located at Bundoora Extended Care Centre (BECC), aims to improve the care of older people by advancing service delivery through research programs that focus on:
- The conduct of systematic reviews and analysis of the literature in areas such as: continuous quality improvement in aged care; the development of innovative models of care delivery; clinical effectiveness in aged care.
- Developing and evaluating guidelines for Best Practice in service delivery and organisation in aged care, based on the systematic review of research findings
- Conducting international, multi-site programs to implement Best Practice guidelines
- Evaluating the impact of the implementation of Best Practice guidelines on health and social outcomes in aged care.
Older People: Issues and Innovations in Care
ACEBAC is excited to announce the recent publication of Older People: Issues and Innovations in Care (3rd ed.), edited by Professor Rhonda Nay and Dr Sally Garratt, and published by Elsevier. This edition captures the underlying new approach in patient centred care and thinking from a multidisciplinary perspective. It highlights the most recent ideas and experiences of policy analysts, nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and the consumer experience from both Australia and internationally. LOCATE is a funded initiative of the Australian government. It aims to provide a clearinghouse of primarily Australian aged care resources which are useful to students, teachers and clinicians and anyone with an interest in aged care.

The Supporting Families and Friends of Older People Living in Residential Aged Care consumer booklet was developed as part of the Constructive Staff-Family Relationships project conducted by ACEBAC, and is based on the systematic review Staff-Family Relationships in the Care of Older People. The consumer booklet provides consumers with helpful information about relating with staff in residential aged care and can be accessed by clicking here.
The Creating Constructive Staff-Family Relationships in the Care of Older Adults in the Residential Aged Care Setting Clinical Guideline for Health Professionals was also developed as part of the Constructive Staff-Family Relationships project conducted by ACEBAC.
