Short-term

Short-term accommodation is useful if you need somewhere to stay whilst searching for permanent housing, or if you cannot move into your confirmed accommodation immediately on arrival.

Short-term accommodation often requires upfront payment for at least one night when booking, which may not be refundable if you cancel, or credit card details to be held as security.

Bendigo

There is no short-term accommodation close to the Bendigo campus at Flora Hill. The nearest motels are located in the Bendigo’s City Centre. The Bendigo Information Centre can assist with accommodation bookings.

Melbourne

It is your responsibility to arrange temporary accommodation. Please find some suggestions below for you to consider. If you are seeking accommodation for less than one (1) month, please email your request to living@latrobe.edu.au.

Note: A booking confirmation number relating to your temporary accommodation is required when booking airport reception.

Parkside Inn Motel

(Situated within one kilometre of campus)

Opposite the Melbourne campus is a privately run motel situated on Plenty Road. Parkside Inn Motel offers standard, twin or three bed room, 3.5 star rated accommodations. This motel is convenient for students who have just arrived and are searching for permanent accommodation.

BM Guest House

(Situated within one kilometre of campus)

Set in the Springthorpe housing estate on the campus bus route, in an old renovated federation building. BM Guest house offers double rooms with en-suite, twin and single rooms. There is a cafe on site, laundry and roof top BBQ. Both short and long term accommodation is available.

Graduate House

(Situated within one kilometre of campus)

Graduate House is a collegiate-style residence located on the northern section of the University grounds in Bundoora, and is approximately 10 minutes walk from the centre of campus. It comprises 128 single, large and shared rooms. Modern fully equipped kitchens and large sunny lounge areas with television and video facilities are located on each floor. The buildings have gazebo and BBQ areas in private yards.

Casual rate per night - minimum 3 nights stay (no bond payable):

  • Single: A$45.00
  • Shared double: A$70.00
  • Couples room: A$70.00

Long term accommodation is also available. Short-term accommodation at Graduate House is subject to availability and not available between December and the middle of February due to the residence being shut down. For enquiries please email living@latrobe.edu.au.

The University Lodge

(Situated within one kilometre of campus)

Housed in magnificent 1920’s style Edwardian buildings, the University Lodge is located at the eastern periphery of the campus. It is a self-catering residence with 53 bedrooms serviced by four fully equipped kitchens, three lounge areas, a self-service coin-operated laundry, a networked computer laboratory and a games room.

Casual rate per night- minimum 3 nights stay (no bond payable):

  • Single: A$45.00
  • Shared double: A$70.00
  • Couples Room: A$70.00

Greensborough Motor Inn

(Situated within five kilometres of campus)

A privately run motel located on the corner of Torbay Street and Greensborough Highway near the Yallambie turn off. Greensborough Motor Inn is a short drive, approximately five minutes from the La Trobe Melbourne campus, and about twenty minutes from Melbourne International Airport.

Comprising fifteen standard units as well as two twin units, a family unit and five spa units. Facilities include breakfast in room or dining room, queen size beds, TV, Foxtel, refrigerator and air conditioning. All units are self contained with bathroom en suite.

Sleep & Go

This newly developed accommodation section will cater for the short term visitor who may want only a one night stay. It is in the same building as Le Student 8.

Le Student 8

LeStudent8 is ideally located to all public transport, including tram, train and bus. It offers a free shuttle bus from the complex to La Trobe in Bundoora and to the city 5 days a week.

Special rates are offered to La Trobe students when booking the minimum of 2 weeks. Students need to mention La Trobe when they enquire with LeStudent8 directly.

Australian Homestay Network (AHN)


Students are matched to a suitable Australian host according to their specific needs and the La Trobe University campus location. With Homestay, students have access to a fully-furnished room and amenities. You can concentrate on making the considerable transition to studying in an Australian tertiary institution, while receiving emotional and practical support from Homestay hosts. Most initial placements are for four (4) weeks.

Residential Colleges

Occasionally it is possible to obtain a temporary room in one of the on-campus residential colleges, however this is usually only up until 2 weeks prior to the commencement of each semester, unless we note otherwise and ask you to write to living@latrobe.edu.au.
