As a resident on campus, you will become and integral part of a vibrant living and learning community, growing developing with other young people facing similar challenges and opportunities.
You will be supported and guided by a dedicated team of professional staff, and student leaders known as Resident Assistants (or RAs). RAs are the backbone of residential life. They are carefully selected and trained senior students chosen for their commitment to helping and advising a group of their peers; and their skills in planning, organising and coordinating activities and programs to provide the kind of social and educational environment in which every student can take full advantage of their time at university.
It is widely acknowledged that students living in campus residences achieve significantly higher grades and their drop-out rate is lower than the university wide average. Students or Resi’s as we like to call them, engage more with academic staff and participate more in university sporting, cultural and social clubs.
As a resident of one of our Colleges you will have access to our Centre for Residential Life which plays an important role in the academic development of residents, especially first year residents. All new students participate in the academic mentoring program. A team of academic mentors are coordinated and supported by a fulltime professional – the Coordinator of Learning Programs.
Through the Centre for Residential Life you will also have the opportunity to participate in our acclaimed Global Program. The Global Program could take you to places as diverse as Cambodia, Kenya, Nepal, China, Vanuatu and Thailand where you will live and work for some weeks with local people in community engagement projects.
Working behind the scenes to provide a seamless residential life experience for every student is a dedicated team of administrative, financial, maintenance and housekeeping professionals, who are always available to assist residents with concerns or questions about accounts or housekeeping matters.
