Barnes Way apartment facility
As well as the traditional residence halls and colleges, La Trobe University also houses the Barnes Way apartment facility.
This facility offers:
- One to six bedroom self-contained apartments
- Single bedrooms
Take a virtual tour
The apartments are ideal for a range of students (from second year), including:
- International students
- Mature-age students (aged 23 years and up)
- Postgraduate students
- Single parent or dual parent families
With the exception of five small single bed studio apartments, the flats are leased as whole properties (not on a room-by-room basis) to students who need to apply as a group.
The units are usually offered from December or early January each year and are leased until the 30th November. Occasionally a few properties may be available in the middle of the year. The rental does not include utility costs. Students should budget for not less then $25 per person per week to cover these expenses.
Tenants are responsible for their own cleaning, gas and electricity connections and bedding. Prospective tenants must view the flat they are allocated personally before signing a year's contract.
The Barnes Way apartment facility offers the benefit of being in control of your own living environment, while also being part of a larger facility that comprises other students who share your academic goals.
The demand for the units at Barnes Way is very high. Preference is given to those students who can move in during December or early January. A rental reference is desirable.
The flats are usually re-allocated in late October/early November for occupancy in December or January.
