Cardholder Guide to the La Trobe Student and Staff Id Card
What is the La Trobe Student and Staff Id Card? The La Trobe student and staff Id card is used for:
INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR LA TROBE STUDENT AND STAFF ID CARD The terms and conditions set out below will apply to your student and staff Id card. Please take time to read them carefully. If you are uncertain about the meaning of any terms or conditions, ask one of our assistants at the Student Administration Office or email your question to cardservices@latrobe.edu.au 1. Taking Care of your La Trobe Student and Staff Id Card You should ensure that your card is not bent, defaced or damaged in any way. You should keep your card in a flat position as bending may cause damage to the microchip and aerial stored in the card. You should also ensure that your card is not exposed to excessive heat. If your card is damaged you can purchase a replacement card for $20.00 from your local Student Administration Office. Throughout 2008 students who require their card to be updated for the current year will be issued with a new card. Students must produce their old card at their local Student Administration Office to have their card replaced. These cards will be replaced free of charge. 3. Lost and Stolen Cards It is your responsibility to safeguard your Id card at all times against theft or misuse. If your card is lost or stolen you must report it immediately to security on (03) 9479 2012 or via email to lost-stolencards@latrobe.edu.au A replacement card will be issued to you at a cost of $20.00. If your card was stolen and you can provide a police stolen property report, a replacement card will be issued free of charge. Your replacement student or staff Id card will need to be re-registered with your Transact La Trobe print and copy account to enable you to continue using Transact La Trobe. All you need to do is take you new card to either an attended or unattended registration station located around the campus. Returning of Staff or Student Cards Cards are issued to students and staff as proof of identification and as evidence of your association with La Trobe University. If your employment or enrolment at the university ceases, the university reserves the right to cancel cards and remove access to facilties. 5. Distance Education Students The university requires a statement of Id to be signed to verify the identity of a distance education student. You can download a copy of this statement from here Along with the Id statement, you must provide a copy of one of the following:
Distance education students must attach the completed Id statement, a copy of photo Id, and a Jpg file of a current photo and email this to cardservices@latrobe.edu.au Student Id cards will be produced if the above criterion has been met. Your student Id card will be sent via post to your current address. 6. Head Coverings The University adopts the Australian Government Passport photo guidelines with regard to Id card photo standards. If a student is unable to comply with these guidelines due to religious or cultural practices, particularly regarding the wearing of a burkah or other such garment, students will be provided with a secondary proof of Id card. This card will include a specimen signature which will be used as further proof of Id, especially under examination conditions. Students will be required to provide both forms of Id while on campus and during examinations. Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, in which case, facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown. Terms and Conditions These terms and conditions may be varied from time to time without notice. If we do, we will let you know by posting a notice above each of the message boards at our Card Centre. The notices will refer to our website http://www.latrobe.edu.au/acadserv/index , where the revised terms and conditions will be published. It is important that you check this website regularly for updates, because the amended terms and conditions apply to your La Trobe student and staff Id card from the date they were first published. If the amendments we are making affect key terms of this document, we will notify you by email or in writing, of the changes. "Privacy Collection Notice - La Trobe Card for Students La Trobe University respects the privacy of your personal information. Enrolment details collected by the Academic Services Division have been used to produce your La Trobe Card for the purpose of providing you with proof of Identification to support you with entitlements as a student of the University. At the time when your photograph is taken for inclusion on your La Trobe Card, you will be provided with an option to consent for your image to be used for other informed purposes. If you consent, your image may also be used for these informed purposes. You may have the right to access the personal information that we hold about you subject to any exceptions in relevant laws by presenting in person at the Card Centre or your Student Administration Offices."
