La Trobe Card Questions and Answers

 

Q. Who do I tell if my card is lost or stolen?

A. The Card Centre (03-9479-1349) or ask the Student Centre at your regional campus to contact the Card Centre on your behalf. The Card Centre is open Monday to Friday during business hours. Please email lost-stolencards@latrobe.edu.au to report missing student/staff cards and include your full name as well as Id number.

 

Q. When I report my lost / stolen card how long will it take to get a new one. How can I borrow from the Library while waiting for my replacement?

A. A card can be made up immediately at a cost of $20. You can be issued (during business hours) with a temporary slip from the Card Centre, if you prefer to wait to see if your lost card turns up.

 

Q. If I lose my card during the weekend or holidays and I need to use the Library what do I do?

A. In exceptional circumstances the library may be able to hold books for up to 24 hours at the loans desk.

 

Q. Can I use my card at other La Trobe campuses?

A. Yes. A LTU Id card is issued to students across all campuses and is acceptable at our libraries, for printing and photocopying

 

Q. Will I be able to use my card for identification when I go to the pub?

A. From 2007, cards issued will no longer contain you DOB. If you require Proof of Id, we suggest you consider an alternative form of Id verification, such as “Proof of Age Card”.

 

Q. Can I use my La Trobe Card to buy a bus / tram / train ticket?

A. No. This functionality is not currently available.

 

Q. I have changed a lot since the photograph on my card was taken and no one recognises me from my picture. Can I get a new card with an up-dated photograph on it?

A. Yes. It will cost you $20 for a replacement card, this can be arranged from the Card Centre.

 

Q. Will it cost me if I lose my card and need a replacement? What if I lose my card a second time?

A. Replacement CARDS will cost you $20.00.

 

Q. Will information about my card usage be used by the University or given to others?

A. The University manages cardholder information for the purposes of verifying Id. No information will be provided to a third party without your permission.
