Financial AidStudent Loan Fund La Trobe University provides an interest-free loan scheme for currently enrolled students in financial need. Purpose Student loan support is available to assist with costs of study including, but not limited to, books, equipment, computer software and hardware, travel for University based research and course placement. Loans will not be granted for daily parking costs at University campuses or daily transport costs. Value Loans range up to $2,500 per student, with provision for loans up to $4,000 in cases of special need. Loans above $200.00 normally require a guarantor who is either a permanent resident or an Australian citizen and who meets other specified criteria. Eligibility
Application Procedure
Approval Process Loan applications will be considered by a Students' Loan Fund Applications Committee in accordance with policy and conditions approved by the Students' Loan Fund Standing Committee. The approval and payment of a loan may take up to four weeks. It is in your best interest to ensure that your application is complete, with all required documentation, to minimise delays. Repayment Loans must be repaid to the Students' Loan Fund within a time prescribed by the Applications Committee. A due date and monthly repayment schedule will be set as part of the approval process and written into the loan contract. Extensions and variations to agreed loan repayment schedules may be approved by the Students' Loan Fund Applications Committee. Loan payments may be made by cash, cheque or money order, BPay or credit card. Further Information Loans from the Students' Loan Fund are governed by University Statute 26 and Regulation 26.1 and by the policies and procedures of the Students' Loan Fund Standing Committee which may change from time to time without notice.
