Census Dates for Units of Study 2007
The University is required to nominate a Unit Census Date (UCD) for each Unit of Study it proposes to offer in a particular year. Units of Study are offered in teaching periods (eg Semester One) and all Units of Study in a teaching period have the same unit census date. Possible teaching periods for 2007 and their corresponding census dates are outlined below. Teaching periods have been categorised into Standard, Research, Third Party Provider and Non-Standard. The majority of the Units of Study offered by the University are offered within the Standard Teaching Periods. All teaching periods are designated by the weeks in which they are offered, for example Semester 1 is w09-22. In defining these teaching periods, week 1 is the first full week in the year that commences on a Monday and ends on a Sunday. In 2007 week 1 will be Monday 1 January to the Sunday 7 January. A calendar showing weeks and dates for 2007 is provided for your assistance. A student incurs a fee for all units on their enrolment after census day has passed, e.g. for Sem 1, 2007, the census date is Friday 30 March. This is the last day on which a student may withdraw from a unit without financial penalty. Any unit in which a student is enrolled on Saturday 31 March will be included in their fee assessment. Examples: How to identify the dates for a specific Teaching Period and Unit Census DatesExample 1: The Non-Standard teaching period W01-08 involves weeks 1 to 8 of the year, where the teaching period commences in week 1 [Monday 1 January to the Sunday 7 January] and ends in week 8 [Monday 19 February to the Sunday 25 February]. The Unit Census Date for all Units of Study offered in that teaching period is Wednesday 31 January. Example 2: The Standard All Year teaching period W09-43 involves weeks 9 to 43 of the year, where the teaching period commences in week 9 [Monday 26 February to the Sunday 4 March] and ends in week 43 [Monday 22 October to the Sunday 28 October].
