ENROLMENT/RE-ENROLMENT

An enrolment is valid when a student has completed the following:

  • Paid any fees or up-front HECS-HELP payments applicable
  • Provided a tax file number where applicable
  • Submitted a Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP or Request for FEE-HELP form, where applicable
  • Paid any outstanding debts, fines on student loans to the university
  • Provided any statistical information required by the Australian Government and the University
  • Selected units(subjects) that are compatible with the structure of their course
  • Complied with any other statutory requirements such as the provision of visa information
  • Provided proof of ID where applicable

INVALID UNITS(SUBJECTS)

Prior to the commencement of each teaching period the Student Information System will run through each enrolment and identify any unit(subject) which should change from ENROLLED to INVALID or vice versa based on course or unit(subject) rules. An INVALID unit(subject) can occur for any of the following reasons:
- A pre-requisite or co-requisite unit(subject) in a prior teaching period has been failed
- A unit(subject) has been selected that has a class quota limit or overloaded your enrolment

You are able to view these changes to your enrolment via StudentOnLine. Where you have an INVALID unit(subject) you will need to either (1) withdraw from the INVALID unit(subject) and replace it with an appropriate alternative unit(subject) via a Variation of Enrolment form. OR (2) discuss your enrolment in the INVALID unit(subject) with your Faculty or Course Advisor and have this INVALID unit(subject) approved as part of your study pattern by completing a Variation of Enrolment form.

Please note changes made to your enrolment by the checking of unit(subject) and course rules may have an effect on your study load and alter the fees you will be required to pay in 2008. Students, who are required to maintain a full time study load, receive any type of private or government allowances or are current recipients of a scholarship, may be adversely effected.

Where the INVALID unit(subject) relates to a QUOTA rule breach, you will be advised of the status of this unit(subject) closer to the commencement of the teaching period. Any queries regarding this change or how you may vary your 2008 enrolment should initially be made to your Faculty or Course Advisor.

RE-ENROLMENT FOR 2009

Please find below the StudentOnLine re-enrolment dates for 2009. Unless advised otherwise, continuing undergraduate, graduate diploma, masters preliminary and masters by coursework students, excluding those enrolled offshore (overseas), will be required to re-enrol using StudentOnLine on the web.

Failure to re-enrol during the specified period may result in your re-enrolment being declined or being accepted on a provisional basis, subject to quota limits. A late enrolment fee of $105.00 (subject to change) will be applied if re-enrolment for 2009 occurs after 23 December 2008.

Higher degree by research candidates who are reading towards a degree by thesis will not be required to re-enrol. Professional Doctorate students must see their course administrator for re-enrolment instructions.
